If you know me at all, then you know how much I love Colorado & how much I love unique t-shirts... put the two together & I will be a loyal customer until the end of time. I want to introduce you to The Green Movement, a lifestyle brand based out of Boulder, Colorado that encourages each of us to Be the Adventure. They are a group of four friends who live by a philosophy that closely mirrors mine: Adventure. Explore. Live Life.
Back in March, I was networking on Instagram for @theMeganElizabeth through various hashtag & location searches when I came across a photo of a cozy red beanie. Since I am just as much of a sucker for cool beanies as I am for cool tees, I had to comment.
This was the only interaction I needed with this brand to know that they are passionate about their products & the people who purchase them. Customer service isn't really about service at all, it's about the relationship built between the producer & consumer. Moments after this conversation, Austin, who created The Green Movement in July 2015 & moderates the brand's social media presence, sent me a code to receive free shipping "As a way to say thank you for even taking the time out of your day to check us out." I told him I loved him (how could I not?!) & that I would be placing an order when I had the extra spending money. Here's the thing: that item was almost sold out & I wasn't certain when I would have that extra money. Want to know what happened? Austin said he would keep one set aside for my order specifically, again proving TGM's passion for their products & people.
My cash came through & I placed the order before heading out for a girls weekend in the mountains. When I returned home, there was a package waiting patiently for me -- so I very impatiently ripped it open. I was expecting the red beanie, but was surprised with so much more.
Not only was the red beanie perfect, but inside the package was also a baseball cap, window decal, & personal note. With the amount of thoughtfulness & kindness that went into the small parcel, I am not certain how they were even able to seal the envelope. Just read the note from TGM that accompanied my new gear:
Thank you for all of the support, it's appreciated more than you know. I included a cap as well because it's starting to get warmer, so now you have TGM to cover your head for any occasion. Keep adventuring and good luck with all the upcoming 14ers.
The Green Movement
I was so filled with joy that I could barely function enough to send them a thank you message -- which was basically just a compilation of me fumbling over exclamation points & emojis. The personal touch of the handwritten note meant just as much as the complimentary cap. Finding a brand anywhere that values you as a person, not just as a consumer, is extremely rare, but I have found one: The Green Movement. This is a group of four friends who know the value of living & not just being alive. Who are passionate about exploration & adventure. Who give selflessly to make the world a better place.
For each item sold, they hand-deliver a shirt or a meal to a person in need around the Boulder & Denver area. Not one for each order, but one for each item sold. Buying yourself two shirts means that you are also helping two struggling strangers. That is the giving power at the heart of the men behind The Green Movement. "We were brainstorming not too long ago about ways that we could give back to the community while leaving an even stronger & green footprint," Austin explained. "Eric came up with the idea to give out food & clothes to people in need, so without hesitation I went to the store that night & got all the supplies to make sandwiches. I woke early the next morning, prepped everything, & headed into Denver for the day. I spent about eight hours walking around handing out food & talking to these folks. After a tremendous response, I knew we were on to something. So from now on, we have dedicated to donating a meal or a shirt to a person in need."
After receiving my hats, I quickly ordered two of their shirts. If the hats were perfect, surely their shirts must be too -- and they are! Last Monday, I was able to personally pick up my shirt order from Austin in Boulder. He was just as delightful in person as he was through our various interactions on Instagram. This man embodies pure joy, happiness, & contentment, living & breathing his brand's philosophy, grateful to be alive, living in Colorado, & pursuing his dreams through TGM. "We hands down have the best 'customers' in the business; I have to use quotes, because we look at everyone as part of the TGM team & not just a customer. We try to interact with everyone that becomes part of the team to let them know how thankful we are for them & to just find out a little about the person. We wouldn't still be here without every single individual that has helped this become what it is today."
I am a proud fan, supporter, & friend of The Green Movement & I invite each of you to reach out to them, drop a line, & support their movement by shopping their website, following them on Instagram, giving their Facebook Page a "like", & following their story on Snapchat:
Street Style + Mountain Vibes
Now that you're well informed about TGM, their passion, & their vision, I want to talk about their products. From the fantastic red beanie to the world's softest long-sleeve t-shirt, here's a break down of the TGM items I personally own & wear in an unbiased review. This is part where my writing gets less eloquent because I am far too excited for big words & proper grammar.
After wearing the gear myself & falling in love with the brand & its philosophy, I asked Austin what he wanted people to know about the brand: "The level of importance that we stress when it comes to being yourself & staying positive. To always make time to get outside & appreciate the simplicities in this world. To always aspire to be the best possible you. I just want people to realize that through chasing your dreams with a positive mindset, you can achieve anything you want."
Huge shoutout to the men of TGM for their genuine kindness & passion. I'm looking forward to collecting your gear for years to come. Special thanks to Austin for taking the time to meet up in Boulder & do a small interview for this post. They've shipped products to the following states & I would love to help them get represented in all fifty: Alaska, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida, North Carolina, Hawaii, Colorado, California, & Utah. So get to shopping!
