I take photographs, I take adventures, & I write about all the rest. From life advice to travel tips, I hope to inspire other people (not just moms!) to get outside or hop on a plane to explore our beautiful planet.
A random, impulsive road trip to Moab, Utah in 2016 ignited a spark within me to spend more time in the wilderness, exploring new places, taking photographs, & writing about the experiences... & I've been doing just that ever since. I started working for an airline that same year, which has opened limitless possibilities to seeing the world thanks to the work perk of non-revenus-space-available travel for my family & I. If I'm not galavanting through forests or climbing mountains, I'm mostly likely hitching a ride to somewhere. Anywhere. So long as there is an open seat.
I've always loved writing. When I was little, I created a family newspaper, The Tetrault Times, so my five siblings & I could keep up with the latest happenings around our childhood home. As riveting as those topics were, I eventually moved on to keeping journals throughout my pre-teen & teenage years. And then my high school English teacher gave me a greater love for the written word than I ever could have given myself through fake newspaper publications & secrets hidden under my pillow. Now I create blog content to tell my personal life stories & share my travel experiences in hopes of inspiring others to live their best life.
I loved photography far before it ever became something trendy to do for the sake of "likes" on social media. I'm a self-taught photographer, beginning with a successful portraiture business that I started in 2009 & cultivated until my move to Colorado in 2014. I thought I would continue doing portrait work once I was settled, but there was something special about that wild mountain air that I just couldn't shake. Being surrounded by the Rockies created a new desire within me to capture all of the romantic & dramatic landscapes that our world has to offer. I still do portraits on occasion, but my truest passion is landscape, adventure, & wilderness photography. Experiencing real, raw places & being able to capture rare moments in nature that I can keep for a lifetime is what keeps me motivated to continue exploring our wild spaces. I rarely hit a trail or a new locale without my camera in hand, especially now that I live in northwest Montana. My photographs tell the stories that my words can't.
I have access to the world thanks to my job & access to America's most beautiful trails thanks to my home in Montana, but my greatest adventure by far has been my marriage to Ian & the birth of our son, Gavin. Motherhood wasn't planned. We had just gotten married with plans of waiting at least six years before starting a family, but God had another plan for our lives. Being a mom has been the hardest, most rewarding, weirdest, & most exhausting job I have ever had. I feared that becoming a mom would alter my lifestyle of adventurous pursuits, but it has made me seek adventure more. I love sharing trails & plane rides with my favorite little dude. Bonus points when dad gets time off work to join us on our adventures. Gavin may not remember all of the places we traveled or all of the mountain peaks we bagged, but I know that I will. And I know that one day, all I'll have left are the memories & photographs of our past adventures. He will grow up (quicker than I'd like), & he will start finding his own path in life. So I don't care how long it takes or where we end up, we will continue to pursue adventure & inspire others to do the same.
